Leading the Way in Space Innovation
A UCF faculty member for 23 years, Daniel Britt holds the university’s highest faculty honor as Pegasus Professor of Physics. He founded UCF’s Exolith Lab, an esteemed space hardware testing and regolith research facility that works with space agencies and companies.
Earning multiple NASA Achievement Awards, Britt served on four NASA mission science teams, built hardware for every NASA Mars lander and has led long-running work on asteroids, comets, the moon and Mars.
Opening Interdisciplinary Opportunities
Hospitality management student Salma Tujjar is SpaceX’s first hotel operations intern, a fast-paced role where she supports lodging operations and helps solve challenges during flight periods.
Building on what she’s learned at our Rosen College of Hospitality Management — ranked No. 1 in the nation (ShanghaiRanking) — she’s a strong example of how UCF connects students to emerging interdisciplinary industries and prepares graduates for future-focused careers.

Associate Director for Translational Aerospace Medicine Research Hansjorg Schwertz is leading a NASA-funded study on how space flight affects bone marrow cells as they create platelets — providing information about the risks of inflammation, immune responses and blood clot formation to help people in space and on Earth.
