The Brazilian Studies certificate enables students to create a plan of study focusing on strategic, current Brazilian sociocultural factors and developments that will equip students to compete more successfully in the global job market.
Admission Requirements
- Students must complete elementary-level Portuguese series, or equivalent, in order to be admitted to the certificate. Native and heritage speakers will substitute two 3000-level Portuguese courses for POR 2200 and POR 2201.
Certificate Requirements
- For degree-seeking students, certificates will be awarded only at time of degree completion.
- No more than six (6) credit hours of overlap between the certificate and the LAS major or minor.

Other Requirements
- A grade of "C" (2.0) or better is required in all courses used to satisfy the certificate.
- At least 12 hours used in the certificate must be earned at UCF within the department.
- Internships, Co-op, and Independent study may be used toward the certificate with departmental permission.
- No credit by exam (TSD, military credit) may be used.
