Florida lawmakers included $20 million for UCF Downtown in the budget the Legislature released Sunday night.
The insertion into the budget comes less than a week after the Florida Board of Governors, which oversees the State University System, approved the downtown campus that UCF will share with Valencia College.
The $60 million academic building, which will be the centerpiece of the downtown campus, will be funded through a split among community support, university resources and state funding.
Already, UCF has raised $16 million of the $20 million in community support it vowed to raise toward the project.
