Orange County Commissioners praised the UCF Downtown project Tuesday and unanimously committed $3 million toward the campus.
“I think it’d be great for downtown. I think it’d be great for Parramore,” said Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs.
She continued, “We’re hoping that by showing united support here locally, that that will help give them the momentum to begin this initiative.”
Orange County’s commitment comes just days before UCF leaders are scheduled to update the Florida Board of Governors on the downtown campus and request its approval.
“We firmly believe that the programs we’ve identified to come downtown will be made better because of the environment. and the amenities of downtown will increase the educational opportunities for our students,” said Fred Kittinger, UCF’s Associate VP of University Relations, during his presentation to the Orange County Commission.
