A Message from Falecia Williams, President, West and Downtown Campuses:
Please join me in welcoming Eugene Jones, who will be the new executive dean of the Downtown Campus, to Valencia.
Eugene comes to Valencia with more than 20 years of experience in higher education at several institutions. He has served in a variety of capacities, including academic affairs, student affairs, and community outreach and service.
In academic affairs, Eugene served as tenured faculty, department chair, area director, dean of bachelor of applied science programs and associate vice president of baccalaureate and workforce programs. In student affairs, he served as the executive director of My Brother’s Keeper at Santa Fe College, a program charged with recruiting, retaining and graduating men of color.
In community outreach, Eugene served as chair of the East Gainesville Initiative and oversaw the Sumter Workforce Partnership. In addition, he designed and co-chaired a program in which 200 families were awarded free computers, training and internet service in Alachua County.
