Biography

Necati Catbas is a researcher of structural engineering, bridge engineering, structural dynamics, finite element analysis, structural health monitoring and advanced engineering topics to complement what inspectors use to assess aging infrastructure. Current work is on development, integration, and implementation of sensing, information, modeling and simulation technologies, parametric and nonparametric structural identification, image-based technologies for structures such as bridges, buildings, aerospace structures and components, lifelines, and stadium structures. Dr. Catbas and his team focus on theoretical, experimental, and applied aspects of structural identification, structural health monitoring, nondestructive evaluation, and condition assessment of structural systems.
