Biography

Paria Gharavi is a materials scientist whose research seeks to understand characterizations of materials by using electron microscopy in order to develop a new design of materials that contributes to a clean environment. Gharavi’s research is focused on the fascinating world of multifunctional materials, exploring their growth, synthesis and atomic-scale structural characterization. Driven by her passion to understand the intricate structure-property relationships in materials, she investigates various applications, from memory devices to microelectromechanical systems. Gharavi’s collaborations with leading electron microscopy centers across the globe have enriched her expertise, and her outstanding work has earned her several prestigious awards, including first place in the National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure microscopy image contest. Blending her experiences and passion for discovery, Gharavi continues to unravel the secrets of advanced novel materials through the lens of electron microscopy.
