Biography

Peter A. Hancock is Provost Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Institute for Simulation and Training, as well as at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Systems at the University of Central Florida. He directs the MIT2 Research Laboratories and is the Associate Director of the Center for Applied Human Factors in Aviation. Hancock is the author of more than 700 refereed scientific articles and publications as well as writing and editing more than twenty books. He is a multiple-term member of the National Academy of Sciences, National Research Council’s Committee on Human Factors and in that capacity has served as chair and organizer for a number of subcommittees.

Hancock’s research interests include autonomous systems, ergonomics, human factors, design and safety. He works on driving simulators and eye-tracking systems for applications in aviation, defense, education and security systems.

He holds a Ph.D. in Human Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an M.Sc. in Human Biology from Loughborough University, Loughborough, England; and a B.Ed. (Honors) in Anatomy and Physiology from Loughborough University, Loughborough, England.
