Biography

Peter Weishar is the founding Director of the Themed Experience Graduate Programs at the University of Central Florida. He started his academic career as a professor at the NYU, Tisch School of the Arts School of Film and Television. In 2004, Peter Weishar became Dean of Film, Digital Media and Performing Arts at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). At SCAD he founded and led the first MFA in Themed Entertainment Design. Professor Weishar went on to become the Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Florida State University where he founded, and was Director of, the FSU Themed Experience Institute.

Weishar is the author of three books, Digital Space: Designing Virtual Environments, Blue Sky: The Art of Computer Animation and CGI: The Art of the Computer Generated Image. He is a frequent contributor for inPark Magazine.

Peter Weishar is President Emeritus of the International Digital Media and Arts Association. He is a member of the International Board of Directors of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) and served two terms on the Eastern Division Board of the TEA and currently serves as President of the Themed Experience and Attractions Academic Society.  In 2023 Peter Weishar was awarded the “Peter Chernak Distinguished Service Award” by the Themed Entertainment Association.
