Biography

Sudipta Seal leads UCF’s Nano Biomaterials Manufacturing Group, which has earned a patent for developing a nanomaterial-based disinfectant capable of killing several viruses, including COVID-19 and SARS. The team, working closely with College of Medicine Professor Griff Parks, is seeking a commercial partner to manufacture the product.

He has been consistently productive in research, instruction and service to UCF since 1998. He has served as the Nano Initiative coordinator for the vice president of research and commercialization. He served as the director of AMPAC and the NanoScience Technology Center from 2009 to 2017. Seal is currently the chair of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, as well as a Pegasus Professor and a University Distinguished Professor.
