Biography

Yan Fernandez is a planetary scientist who uses telescopes and radio experiments to study physical and compositional properties of comets and asteroids to understand the origin of the solar system and how it has evolved. His observational research involves telescopes, visible and infrared wavelengths and radio experiments.

Fernandez received his Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Maryland, College Park. He spent three years as a Scientific Researcher and three years as a SIRTF/Spitzer Fellow in University of Hawai’i before joining UCF in 2005, where he is a professor of physics.
