With Chief Information Officer Matthew Hall’s departure, UCF Provost Michael Johnson has appointed Sheila Amin Gutiérrez de Piñeres, dean of the Burnett Honors College, to lead UCF IT as Interim Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer.
Amin takes on the Interim CIO role in addition to her duties with the Honors College. Amin first joined UCF as dean in 2018 from Austin College in Texas and was reappointed for a five-year term in April 2023.
Her collaborative leadership, paired with her experience implementing systems and workflows to improve processes and customer service, will help to maintain UCF’s high-quality IT operation.
“My goal is to maintain the positive momentum UCF IT has built together and to ensure a smooth transition during this period,” Amin says. “With support and collaboration, from UCF IT, I am confident that we will remain committed to UCF’s goals and to delivering outstanding results for our community.”
Amin will coordinate a review of IT structures and operations using external CIOs, as well as some UCF personnel, in advance of the anticipated hire of a permanent CIO.
