For the past 30 years, Paula Allen has dedicated her life to traveling the world to cover issues of global significance.
Allen, a self-described documentary photographer whose work has appeared in several prominent publications, visited UCF on Thursday to share her photographs and stories. Her presentation was entitled “Against All Odds: Women Around the World Demand Justice.” She spoke to nearly 175 people at the UCF Student Union.
The presentation, organized by the UCF Global Perspectives Office, was part of a 2009-10 universitywide theme, “Covering the World: Journalists Speak.”
Allen’s presentation consisted of a slideshow of photographs documenting issues in three regions of the world: Chile, Asia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Although each story was unique, they all exemplified women demanding justice.
