A new Women’s Research Center exhibit called “The Subject of Devotion” will feature several works of art centered on the Barbie doll, the American cultural icon of female beauty.
Artist Cheryl Cabrera chose Barbie as the subject of her work to portray the controversy of the doll being the embodiment of ideal female beauty. Artworks portraying painted, pixilated images that are clearer from a distance will be featured in the exhibit.
The opening reception will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at the University of Central Florida’s Women’s Research Center, 12424 Research Parkway, Suite 360. The exhibit will remain open until April 8.
