More than 50 local and national authors will share their love for reading at the fourth annual UCF Book Festival on Saturday, April 13.
The festival is open to the public and will be held at the UCF Arena from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission and parking will be free.
The festival is hosted by UCF’s College of Education in association with UCF’s Morgridge International Reading Center. Visitors are invited to meet with the authors—whose works are featured in classrooms and libraries around the country—and learn about their creative processes and how they bring their characters to life.
Lisa Scottoline, the author of 16 novels and the Philadelphia Inquirer’s weekly column “Chick Wit,” will be the event’s keynote author. Other authors scheduled to appear include Steven Barnes, Bob Kealing, Craig Pittman and former Congressman Lou Frey Jr.
Throughout the day guests can attend author forums, listen to readings, attend book signings and receive book appraisals. There are activities planned for all ages, with special events for teens and children.
This year’s event also includes cooking demonstrations by local authors Pam Brandon, Katie Farmand and Heather McPherson, who collaborated on “Field to Feast: Recipes Celebrating Florida Farmers, Chefs, and Artisans,” as well as chefs James and Julie Petrakis, authors of the cookbook “The Ravenous Pig: Seasons of Florida.”
