Want to impress your loved ones this Valentine’s Day? Give them a handmade card – made on a fine-arts letterpress at UCF’s Flying Horse Editions.
The opportunity to create the cards will be offered during the facility’s periodic open house on Thursday, Feb. 7, when visitors can see the downtown Orlando fine-art research center and some of the limited-edition prints, artist books, and art objects by internationally known artists that have been printed by the non-profit publisher.
Flying Horse staffers also will demonstrate the letterpress process, which prints an image from an inked, raised surface when paper is impressed on the surface.
The Letterpress Happy Hour—Valentine’s Day Edition is free. Those who want to make the customized cards can print five cards for $10. The cards can have up to 25 characters printed on a preset Valentine’s design.
The open house is 6 to 9 p.m. at the UCF Center for Emerging Media, 500 W. Livingston St. Refreshments will be available and food trucks are scheduled to attend.
