David Fukuda, an associate professor and Division of Kinesiology chair, has been awarded Fellow status by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
National Strength and Conditioning Association Fellows are an accomplished group of professionals who promote excellence and leadership within the NSCA. Fukuda was selected for this honor based upon his frequent and sustained contributions to the strength and conditioning profession, which have promoted and supported the goals and activities of the NSCA.
“I’m extremely honored to be named an NSCA Fellow,” Fukuda says. “The NSCA has been impactful on my career and the organization continues to play a major role in the development of our students through various support mechanisms and networking opportunities, while providing an avenue through which we can share the results of our research.”
Fukuda has devoted his career to scholarship within the field of kinesiology. He has developed niche expertise in athlete assessment and performance, specifically in the field of martial arts. In addition to leading undergraduate and graduate programs in kinesiology and exercise physiology at UCF, Fukuda has also had national and international impact in the field through his scholarly contributions, including numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, an authored textbook, Assessments for Sport and Athletic Performance, and various presentations on related topics.
Fukuda also helps further the field of kinesiology by mentoring future generations of scholars in the field. Fukuda has served as faculty advisor on numerous master’s theses and doctoral dissertations in his role at UCF.
“David is a top scholar in our School and certainly even nationwide,” says Jeffrey Stout, director of the School of Kinesiology and Physical Therapy. “This is a well-deserved honor that acknowledges his contributions to furthering the science in the field of strength and conditioning.”
Fukuda will be honored during the NSCA’s national conference later this year.
