The College of Graduate Studies has money to help faculty researchers hire postdoctoral scholars who are new in this role at UCF. The program is called the Preeminent Postdoctoral Program or P3.
Principal investigators can receive up to $58,000 over two years to cover the salary and benefits of a postdoctoral scholar. In addition, there is a one-time $5,000 award available to P3 scholars for professional development.
P3 was launched in 2016 with the goal of attracting outstanding scholars in all disciplines. There were 66 postdoctoral scholars at UCF at the time, and the university strategic plan calls for increasing the total to 200 by 2020. Today there are 128, and 68 of them are supported through P3.
“Postdocs have become a vital component in research-intensive universities,” said John Weishampel, associate dean of the college. “They infuse labs with new ideas and contribute to groundbreaking research while developing their own career paths.”
