Dozens of emergency responders from multiple agencies will be conducting a drill Wednesday, Sept. 4, in the Central Florida Research Park.
The U.S. Army, University of Central Florida Police, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and Orange County Fire Rescue will be working together during the exercise at the Simulation and Training Technology Center (STTC) located in the Orlando Tech Center cluster of buildings in the Research Park.
The exercise will likely produce loud noises (including mock gun fire, explosions and shouting) and law enforcement and fire rescue activity in and around the Orlando Tech Center. All of the activity will be part of the mock exercise and not an emergency.
Access to the Orlando Tech Center will be limited for the duration of the exercise between 6 a.m. and noon.
The Army Research Laboratory – Simulation & Training Technology Center is leading the exercise. The drill will give local and federal agencies the opportunity to work together, and it also is a requirement of military installations around the country to ensure readiness for any emergency.
