The NFL Preseason will get into full swing this weekend, and UCF fans will have plenty of opportunities to see their former Knights in action. Overall, 21 UCF players who completed their college careers in a Black and Gold uniform are preparing for their first preseason games.
One of those Knights is Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Torell Troup, who competed for UCF from 2006-09. Troup joined a long list of UCF football players who have received their degrees, both while with the team and after they exhausted their eligibility, when he officially became a UCF graduate this month. In July, UCF’s Graduation Success Rate stood at 81%, which was 13% above the national average and the highest in school history.
Last season, UCF led its previous league, Conference USA, for the second straight season with 14 players on NFL opening-day rosters. It eventually had 15 Knights in the NFL toward the end of the year.
North of the border, a pair of UCF players are continuing their CFL careers as Joe Burnett is suiting up with Edmonton and Keith Shologan is with Saskatchewan, and both have already played four regular-season contests.
