UCF will next week host a series of interactive events to raise awareness about safety and well-being.
Safe Knight Week, which runs March 5-8, is an opportunity to learn about self-care, violence prevention and emergency preparedness. The goal for the week is to provide health and safety-related learning opportunities that will be useful during the following week’s spring break and beyond.
The week will kick off with the Safe Knight Week carnival, which will showcase the safety and wellness services at UCF and throughout the community.
The carnival will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Memory Mall. There will be activities to de-stress, a showcase of emergency response vehicles and tools, and prizes to win.
Tuesday’s theme is personal safety, and highlights include a Let’s Be Clear walk that will leave from Ferrell Commons at noon and a speaker on the dangers of texting and driving at 6:30 p.m. in the Live Oak Center. This event, featuring Fletcher Cleaves, is open to the public and free to attend.
Wednesday’s events will focus on physical and sexual health and well-being, with HIV testing at the Recreation and Wellness Center, a women’s self-defense class at the UCF Police Department and an evening of Yoga Under the Stars on Memory Mall at 9 p.m.
Thursday’s events will focus on physical safety, including a FreshU Demo Day on Memory Mall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a fire extinguisher training. You can also Ask A Dietician nutritional questions in the Student Union, attend a Green Dot training, and learn basic first aid and hands-only CPR.
