The UCF Global Perspectives Office each year helps bring prominent figures to campus to speak about pressing world issues and topics. The office’s annual theme this year, “What is Global is Local,” connects issues from thousands of miles away to our own daily lives.

The events, which are free and open to the public, include:

  • “Women and Leadership: A Global Perspective,” featuring MTV producer Shannon Fitzgerald on taking success to the next level at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the Key West Ballroom of the Student Union.
  • “An Afternoon with Downton Abbey,” with discussions from best-selling author and Downton insider Jessica Fellowes at 3 p.m., Monday, Sept. 30, in the Cape Florida Ballroom of the Student Union, prior to the Season 4 premiere of the hit show in January on WUCF TV.
  • “The Square: Egypt’s Ongoing Struggles for Democracy,” with award-winning documentarian and activist Jehane Noujaim at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29, in the Pegasus Ballroom of the Student Union.
  • Everyone is welcome to attend, connect and ask questions at any Global Perspectives event. Faculty members wishing to bring classes to an event are encouraged to contact global@ucf.edu to reserve space.
