About 110 children, who attend UCF’s Creative School on the main campus, will learn about marine environments by touching animals and plants in a touch tank, singing songs about sea creatures and their environment and playing games such as matching the animal to the proper habitat. The children also will be signing pledges with handprints to keep their pets at home and not dump them into waterways.
Biology and other science students helped plan and organized the event under Biology Professor Linda Walter’s leadership. The students spent weeks creating age-appropriate stations for the preschoolers on campus to visit.
The Creative School is also looking for other science partners on campus to help them set up unique hands-on programs that can ignite their children’s imagination and interest in science.
