The University of Central Florida will host a vigil June 14 to remember and honor those who lost their lives in the shooting at Pulse on June 12.

Members of the UCF community and the public are invited to attend. The vigil will begin at 7 p.m. at the Student Union on the main campus. Guests may park at no cost in Garage H, and Garage D will handle overflow.

Speakers include UCF President John C. Hitt, Joe Saunders of the Human Rights Campaign, SGA President Chris Clemente, members of UCF student groups and faculty. The event is being organized by members of UCF’s LGBTQ+ community with support from UCF Social Justice and Advocacy.

The names of the shooting victims will be read. Among the victims of the Pulse tragedy are two members of the UCF family: student Juan Ramon Guerrero, 22, and alumnus Christopher Andrew Leinonen, 32.

To keep everyone safe and keep entry to the location efficient, UCF Police are asking that attendees refrain from bringing the following items:

  • coolers
  • chairs
  • large bags
  • large backpacks
  • Guests are encouraged to bring water bottles to keep hydrated, and drinks will be available on site. We anticipate a large crowd, so please plan accordingly.
