The UCF track and field team has climbed to No. 5 in the latest USTFCCCA national rankings, the association announced Tuesday. The Knights, who had been tabbed at No. 6 for the preseason and first week of rankings, jumped Texas for their best showing in the national polls in school history.
UCF boasts 11 Knights who claim 14 performances that rank among the top 50 in the country, and of those 14 marks, four are among the top 10 in the nation. The 4×400 relay team’s third-place finish at last weekend’s Rod McCravy also ranks among the country’s top 50 times.
Oregon, LSU, Arkansas and Clemson round out the top four. UCF joins Southern Miss as the only programs to represent the Conference USA in the top-25 rankings. As a league, C-USA ranks fifth among the top 10 in the nation.
UCF will face some of the best competition in the nation this weekend when the Knights travel to the New Balance Invitational in New York City on Feb. 3-4.
