Local business leaders are invited to hear from a veteran of both large pharmaceutical and startup life sciences companies this week.
Michael Pape, Ph.D., the Dr. Phillips Entrepreneur in Residence and lecturer of management at the UCF College of Business Administration (#UCFBusiness), will be speaking at the Citrus Club on Friday, February 19 from 7:30 a.m.-9 a.m. His talk is entitled “The Startup Staircase ® – From Pharmaceuticals to Shoelaces…The Essential Steps in Building a Successful Business.” The talk is part of the college’s Dean’s Speaker Series, and is based on a program he designed and uses to teach and train entrepreneurship.
Pape is a serial entrepreneur who has co-founded several life science companies including Esperion Therapeutics, Orchard Venture Partners (a life science venture capital firm), Akebia Therapeutics, and Nymirum. In addition to his teaching position at the college, Pape also serves as the director of the UpStarts Student Venture Accelerator.
The Dean’s Speaker Series, sponsored by CFE Federal Credit Union, is held monthly and allows the Orlando community to learn about the provocative and new programs that the college’s world-class faculty are spearheading, researching and teaching, from 7:30 a.m. -9:00 a.m., at the Citrus Club in Downtown Orlando.
