A game developed by a team from UCF’s College of Engineering and Computer Science is in the finals of a prominent public competition for indie games.
Galactic Arms Race, an action-packed online space combat game spearheaded by Erin Hastings, a Ph.D. student in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and his advisor, Ken Stanley, an assistant professor, is one of 12 finalists in the online Indie Game Challenge Gamer’s Choice awards competition that ends today.
The game is unique in that users control the evolution of particle-based weapons used in the battle sequences based on their preferences – so the game is always changing.
Awards will be announced Feb. 19 in Las Vegas.
