Pegasus Palooza, UCF’s official Welcome Week, returns every fall semester with a week full of social, academic and service events. The tradition has grown exponentially over the past five years. This year, 32 events were hosted by 21 campus partners—more than double last year. Students were able to earn up to 34,000 LINK Loot for attending the events during the week.
LINK Launch was the first event to kick off the week with over 4,000 Knights, friends and family members in attendance. Special guest Knightro jousted with students while performances by Shimmy Knights, Rukus and Knights Meeleekept the energy alive. The highly anticipated Knight Rave saw more than double the attendance than previous year, with over 3,200 at the event. Pegasus Palooza also introduced some new hit events like Ballin’ on a Budget and Student Government Association Open House. Over 100 students attended financial workshops hosted by Wells Fargo.
Pegasus Palooza accomplished their goal this year to be more inclusive. The week showcased diversity on campus through partnerships with various offices that target demographics within the UCF community. These offices hosted events such as “Alphabet Soup,” “Are You on the Knight Track,” “Multicultural Dance Party,” and “What MASS Can Do for You” to build awareness of the support available on campus for students. Under the leadership of student director Christian Hernandez, Pegasus Palooza was the most successful to date.
Students, become a part of UCF’s fastest growing tradition. Applications for student director are available through September 24 at the Office of First Year Experience in Howard Phillips Hall, room 216. Starting October 8, students can also apply to be on the Pegasus Palooza executive board.
FYE is an office in the Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services.
