As the Associate Dean for Research in the College of Education, I give to the UCF Annual Fund to support the college, which is actively involved in developing the next generation of citizens through education. The future of this country’s well-being rests on the success of the classroom teachers’ ability to educate the children in their care. While parents begin the process, classroom teachers nurture the skills and aptitudes of their students who will one day be the citizens making the decisions that will guide this country.
My particular area of interest is Early Childhood Education. The early grades are where children first learn about the public school system and where they have their first experience with adults outside the family. An Early Childhood Education teacher instills in their students two important lessons that are the foundation for success in school – learning is fun and adults are great resources of knowledge and support.
