The University Writing Center (UWC) provides free, individualized writing consultations with the aim of helping you improve your work at every step of the writing process. Whether you’re writing a paper for your online course or creating a nonacademic document for an audience outside of UCF, the UWC will help you achieve your goals. We provide a collaborative environment that creates learning opportunities to help writers better understand and navigate complex writing situations, both in and outside UCF.

Our tutors (also called consultants) are UCF graduate and undergraduate students, all of whom take our comprehensive three-credit course “Theory & Practice of Tutoring Writing” and participate in ongoing professional development throughout their time at the UWC. They are expert collaborators and test audiences who are ready to support you and your writing. Consultants can provide feedback and insight on how to successfully navigate a range of writing tasks, including research papers, proposals, annotated bibliographies, ePortfolios/professional websites, presentations, resumes, cover letters, personal statements, and much more!

Online Consultations

For UCF Online students, the UWC provides 45-minute, synchronous online consultations via Zoom. Online consultations can be scheduled by making an appointment at our website or calling our office at 407-823-2197.

Consultations can be scheduled at any stage of the writing process, whether you’re just getting started on a project or want some final feedback before submitting a paper to your professor. Recurring consultations are welcome, too!

The UWC also offers additional online resources available via our website to help you with your writing.
