President Hitt’s Final Commencement

President John C. Hitt awarded degrees at commencement for the last time as president this May. During his 26 years leading UCF, Hitt has conferred degrees to more than 235,000 students. That’s a lot of lives impacted by a single person — certainly more than by any other university president in the state of Florida.

At six ceremonies spanning three days, more than 8,100 students walked across the stage to accept their diplomas this spring. In 1970, when the university was Florida Technological University, 423 students graduated during the first commencement.
